USCIS conducted H-1B cap lottery on April 9th

USCIS received over 236,000 H-1B cap petitions, including master’s cap petitions. On April 9, USCIS used a computer-generated lottery, selecting  65,000 general cap and 20,000 master’s cap petitions.  USCIS conducted the selection process for the advanced degree exemption first. All unselected advanced degree petitions then became part of the random selection process for the 65,000 limit.  USCIS has begun sending email confirmations for selected petitions that were filed under premium processing.  Fallon Bixby Cheng & Lee anticipates that the USCIS will continue to send receipts for selected petitions over the next several weeks. For USCIS announcement see:
